As has been our tradition for the past twenty years, we open our 2026-2027 season on Sunday, September 20, at 5:00pm with an evensong celebrating the founding of Episcopal Church of the Transfiguration on Holy Cross Day 1956. This year is our 70th Anniversary, so we have programmed music from each decade of the church’s existence. Peter Aston’s Magnificat and Nunc dimittis in F will be the centerpiece of the service along with Herbert Sumsion’s Preces and Responses for Durham Cathedral. The Introit and Anthem will be works by Joel Martinson composed for Saint Rita Catholic Church and Transfiguration. The Rev. Scott Gunn will be the preacher and a reception will follow the service in the Gathering Space.
