Senior Associate Rector
Episcopal Church of the Transfiguration seeks passionate disciples of Jesus Christ with gifts in leadership, preaching, and teaching to join our clergy team.
The Senior Associate is a "second chair" leader alongside the Rector, sharing in oversight of staff, participating in crafting and implementing vision, and practicing pastoral ministry for our thriving congregation.
The position is full-time and reports directly to the Rector. Priests with 3+ years of ordained ministry are invited to apply, with favor given to those who have served on the staff of a large congregational system.

Compensation

Associate Rector
The Associate will work closely with the Rector and alongside the Senior Associate Rector to lead our congregation.
The position is full-time and reports directly to the Rector. Newly ordained clergy are welcome to apply, with favor given to those with previous congregational experience.

Director of Welcoming & Development
Episcopal Church of the Transfiguration seeks an energetic and loving person to become Director of Welcoming and Development (DWD). The DWD will lead the congregation's welcoming ministries, helping us open our arms as wide as possible to newcomers and connect them with our church's mission and ministries. The DWD will also lead Transfiguration's fundraising efforts, in partnership with the rector and staff. We are ready for skilled and dedicated staff leadership to help us expand giving and sustain our church's growth and vibrancy.
The role is full-time (40 hours) and includes presence on Sundays, occasional presence for the Saturday evening service, one evening meeting per week (on average), and regular office hours.
Transfiguration is a thriving church of 1,200 members and a budget of $2.7 million located in north Dallas. We have a strong reputation for our affirming inclusivity, beautiful worship and music, robust formation for all ages, and far-reaching outreach ministries. We welcome hundreds of visitors each year, and we are eager to help more of them establish roots and become engaged members. Transfiguration also needs expertise to boost overall giving, including to the endowment, as we seek to provide the resources our church needs.
The Director of Welcoming and Development will:
Lead welcoming and connection efforts.
We seek is to increase the percentage of visitors who find an enduring place in the life of our church. The DWD will organize and direct a team of greeters, develop and maintain an attractive welcome center, guide a thorough follow-up process, and model the Christlike friendliness that is at the heart of our parish.
Coordinate congregational giving efforts.
Giving to Transfiguration has grown significantly over the last decade, including a hugely successful $8 million capital campaign, but we are struggling to keep up with rising costs and the demands of a thriving church. The DWD will steer the annual stewardship campaign in partnership with the staff, cultivate estate bequests to the endowment, and work with the rector to facilitate other special donor opportunities.

Director of Children's Ministries
Episcopal Church of the Transfiguration seeks a creative and caring disciple of Jesus Christ to serve as part-time (2/3) Director of Children's Ministries (DCM). The DCM will encourage and support the Christian formation of children, from birth through fifth grade, and equip parents/guardians to foster the spiritual growth of their children. The role requires a genuine love for children and a passion for developing in each child a life-giving faith in God.
Transfiguration is a thriving church of 1,200 members with a strong reputation for affirming inclusivity, beautiful worship and music, robust formation for all ages, and far-reaching outreach ministries. Our children's ministry supports over 50 children enrolled in Sunday School and centers around Godly Play, as a program and philosophy. We endeavor to cultivate the spiritual imaginations of children and their families, and help them grow in the knowledge and love of the Lord.
The DCM serves in a formation team, led by an associate rector for formation and alongside the Director of Youth Ministries. The DCM also collaborates with the rest of the staff, particularly the Rector and Director of Communications.
The Director of Children and Family Ministries will:
- Plan and coordinate a robust Godly Play program for children up to grade five, which includes recruiting, training, and equipping teachers and other volunteers for four separate classrooms
- Coordinate weekly Children's Chapel during the 9:00 a.m. service (with support of clergy)
- Direct the childcare ministry for children aged 6 weeks to 3 years old, including the hiring, training, and management of nursery workers
- In partnership with the Director of Operations, ensure the care and readiness of all classroom spaces and childcare rooms
- Partner with clergy to prepare age-appropriate children for First Informed Communion (typically second grade)
- Select and produce weekly children's bulletins
- Ensure all ministry volunteers are certified in "Safeguarding God's Children," and all of the requirements are carefully observed
- Coordinate religious enrichment activities and family services for special seasons and holy days (e.g. Advent Festival, Christmas pageant, Lenten programs and worship, Easter celebrations).
- Plan and coordinate Vacation Bible School for approximately 40 children, held each summer, including the recruitment and preparation of adult and youth volunteers
- Plan and coordinate monthly opportunities for older elementary-aged children to engage in hands-on outreach (known as "Impact Kids")
- Collaborate with the Director of Communications to ensure effective communication regarding children's events and programs
- Create and maintain a budget for children's ministries, including related restricted accounts, in consultation with Associate Rector for Formation
- Assist clergy in providing pastoral support to families with children (e.g. cards, phone calls, emails)
- Attend weekly staff meetings
We are Seeking Candidates Who Possess
- Possess an abiding Christian faith and a passion for helping children grow as disciples of Jesus
- Possess skills for recruiting, coordinating, and empowering volunteers
- Are servant leaders and hopeful problem-solvers
- Are well-organized and enjoy collaborating with a large ministry team
- Are proficient with basic Office software (e.g. Word, Excel), social media, and email
- Have previous experience leading children's formation, with special preference for candidates who are familiar with Godly Play
- Are familiar with the beliefs and customs of the Episcopal Church
- Are ready to serve, and love families of all types
Compensation
Compensation will be commensurate with skill and experience, with compensation range beginning at $42,500. Additionally[1],
