Youth Programs
In the Episcopal Church we welcome all our youth to grow in their faith through a variety of ways. We offer educational and experiential programs designed to help them think critically about the practice of their faith, fellowship opportunities for them to build dynamic healthy relationships with one another, service and worship experiences to nurture love of their neighbors all in a multi-generational environment.
Formation | Grade 6 & Up
Youth formation is an in-depth approach to growing in our own faith and spiritual identities. Each year we establish a theme, using the Episcopal curriculum of Journey to Adulthood, as well as supplemental material and Bible Study sessions to create a rich and safe environment to think critically. At the end of the Formation year, we take everything we have learned and turn it into action, with an end of year project or field trip.
Events
Crossover
On Wednesday evenings during the school year, Crossover is a time for our Youth (6th – 12th grade) to unwind from the stresses of growing up. The core of Crossover is Food, Faith, Fellowship, and Fun. Traditional events throughout the year consist of outreach opportunities, our annual youth lock-in, blessing of the pets, Advent festival, and assistance with the Passion experience during Holy Week. Crossover is a dynamic group, and an excellent way to be involved and grow in the life of the Transfiguration Community.
Youth Acolytes
The youth acolytes assist the clergy during liturgical services by undertaking responsibilities such as preparing the altar and carrying ceremonial items. At the 9:00 am service, five youth aged between 8 and 18 will be designated to serve as torch bearers, candle lighters, crucifers, banner bearers, Gospel holders, and ringers of the Sanctus Bell.
Youth Choirs
Another opportunity to participate in worship is to join one of our two youth choirs!
The Canticle Choir
Children age 10-12 make up our Canticle Choir and have the opportunity to participate in worship a few times a year. They learn to sing beautifully in harmony and grow in their understanding of the songs' spiritual meanings.
The Youth Choir
Open to all members age 12-18, our Youth Choir holds rehearsals every Sunday from 11:15am-Noon during the Fall, Winter and Spring. Click here to learn more about our Youth Choirs.
Youth Ushers
Youth ushers serve one time every two months. Youth ushers function as full ushers in additional to providing welcome and hospitality to new youth members.
Youth Pilgrimages
In alternating years we are fortunate to be able to offer members of our Youth Programs the opportunity to deepen their experience of faith though the practice of a pilgrimage. Your raise funds through the year to help fund this undertaking.
In years past, and in the summer of 2026 our Youth will make a Pilgrimage to Scotland.
