Welcome from the Rector
If you've clicked this far, you're probably trying to figure out who we "really are" at Transfiguration. You want to know if this is the kind of church where you and all those you love really would be safe and loved and supported. Well, our mission is "to seek and serve Christ in all persons," and by "all persons," we mean you, whoever you are and wherever you come from. No asterisks. We are ready to love you like Christ.
But you should know that "all persons" also means "them," whoever "they" are, because at Transfiguration we believe that to be Christian is to live like there is no "them." Only "us."
If you're curious about how we try to do this in a messy and chaotic world, the best advice I can give is to come and see. We'd love to meet you. And if you come, I promise that we will do our best to treat you like Christ. Just like we try to treat everyone.

The Rev. Rebecca Tankersley
Sr. Associate Rector
I first heard the call to ordained ministry during a long moment of silent prayer in the midst of a worship service. In that stillness, God became present to me as never before. My heartbeat slowed, my skin pulsed with energy, and I became deeply aware of how small I am in this vast and marvelous world. As that awareness dawned, I heard God say: "Yes, you are small, and I know everything about you – how many hairs are on your head – and I love you." That moment was an experience of heaven on earth. I would've been content to remain in that stillness forever, but God had other plans, telling me: "I need you to leave this place and let everyone know that I love them in the same way." I was ordained as a priest in 2015 and called to Transfiguration in 2018. Sharing God's love is at the heart of my ministry, and it is my joy and honor to do so here at Transfiguration.
"The Fig", as we affectionately call ourselves, has long been a leader in the Episcopal Church's move toward inclusion. The Fig raised up the first women priests in our diocese, and LGBT persons have been members, leaders, and on staff for decades.
God's love for all is central in our preaching, teaching, fellowship, and service. If you're looking to connect (or reconnect) with God's great big love for you, you've come to the right place. Visit us for worship one weekend or drop me a note to arrange a meeting.
