Jesus said “You are the salt of the earth, but if salt has lost its taste, how can its saltiness be restored? It is no longer good for anything but is thrown out and trampled under foot.
“You are the light of the world. A city built on a hill cannot be hid. People do not light a lamp and put it under the bushel basket; rather, they put it on the lampstand, and it gives light to all in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father in heaven.” (Matthew 5:13-16)
We need your support to be a community of salt and light.
Jesus calls us to be his salt and light. In a world hungry to know the flavor of love, he asks us to be his seasoning. In a world that struggles to see love, he beckons us to be his lamps lighting the way.
Transfiguration is where we come to refill our salt shakers and recharge our lanterns. It is where our souls are stirred, our hearts are lifted, our minds are challenged, and our hands are put to work. It is where we are reminded, week by week, that love is the heart of being salt and light.
Being a bright and flavorful congregation takes resources. We are served by a strong staff of priests and ministers, sextons and musicians. We are also blessed with a wonderful campus, which enables our mission seven days a week. The funds for all this good work come from hundreds of generous givers who believe in our mission and experience God in our midst.
Will you stand with Transfiguration in its mission to spread the essence of the gospel and shine as a beacon of light and hope to the world?
These two graphs illustrate where the Fig’s funding comes from, and how we put your gifts to work. On the left, you can see how our 400+ pledges of support in 2024 come in a variety of amounts. We are just as dependent on pledges below $5,000 as we are on larger gifts. What matters is not the amount of our gift, but that the amount is appropriate for our circumstances and demonstrates our gratitude to God.
On the right you can see how Transfiguration puts all those funds to work. Each slice of the pie is an aspect of our church’s life, and the amount includes everything that we spend in support (programming, salaries, facilities, administrative costs, etc.). Operations is our largest share, but then, without maintaining our campus and paying our utilities, we would have a much harder time doing all the other great work!
The Church has long taught a standard of faithful giving. It’s called the tithe, or 10% of our income. Transfiguration invites everyone to this faithful standard of giving, because we remember Jesus’ teaching that where our treasure is, there our heart will be also.
You may submit your pledges through Realm here.
We are grateful that you are part of Transfiguration and we ask that you pray for us as we plan and prepare for the coming year.
