An opportunity for adults to enhance their worship by serving at the altar primarily during the 11:15am service. Duties include: carrying the Cross and torches in procession, ringing the Sanctus bell, receiving gifts at the offertory, and assisting other ministers at the altar.

Serving at the altar as an acolyte is a rite of passage for those between the ages 8 to 17. Transform your presence at Church into action by carrying the Cross and torches and assisting the clergy and other ministers during the Eucharist at the 9:00 am service. This is a great way to see worship from a new perspective.

Preparing the altar for services is a form of worship in itself.  The women and men of the guild learn the logistical needs of worship, maintenance of scared vessels and vestments, as well as, ensure all is ready for the conduct weddings, funerals, and regular services. The Altar Guild meets monthly.

The Eucharistic Minister’s role is more than bearing the cup during Communion. It is an integral part of the ministry of the altar along with Acolytes, Emcees, and Clergy. It carries the privilege of assisting the Clergy in giving the sacrament to your fellow Christians and is a great way to grow in understanding worship.

These individuals exercise a special pastoral ministry by carrying the Sacrament to fellow parishioners who are homebound or hospitalized using a short liturgy of prayer and communion.  EVs serve at least once per month after the 9:00am and 11:00am services.

The beautiful floral arrangements at our weekly services, weddings, funerals and special events are lovingly created by this guild of dedicated women and men. Join them in making beautiful things from God’s creation that enhance and add joy to our worship.

Readers of all ages offer their voice to proclaim the lessons and pray the Prayers of the People at church services. This is your chance to be a part of the liturgy on Sunday. If you wish to lend your voice to help make the Word come alive, this is a great opportunity.

Those you see vested working with the clergy during worship services comprise this group. The Emcee or Master of Ceremonies ensures a smooth flow of worship at the altar.

Sound Techs enable all to hear what is said or sung during services and events by controlling the volume of microphones using the sound board. Members serve once or twice a month. Training is provided. Livestream Techs support the video streaming of worship services via Facebook and YouTube and work closely with the Sound Techs. We are forming a group of volunteers to help support live-streaming and training will be provided.

Welcome parishioners and guests to our worship services and keeps the services running smoothly. Serving on average once a month, the Ushers distribute service leaflets, collect gifts at the offertory, direct folks during communion, and offer guidance to anyone needing help finding their way around the Transfiguration campus.

This guild handles receptions at church for weddings and funerals. Their dedicated service assists others at milestone moments in their life and reflect the love and support our community offers to one another.

Walking into a new place…even one as warm as Transfiguration…can be stressful. Members of this ministry greet people arriving and leaving church services. They offer them assistance, ensure a warm welcome, answer their questions, and help them connect to all we offer.

The Order’s mission is the extension of Christ’s Kingdom through Prayer, Service and Evangelism. Those who join commit to the Order’s Rule of Life, a decision made through a period of discernment and preparation. The Daughters meet monthly for fellowship and prayer and assist the clergy as requested.

EMF is a group welcoming all men of the parish as members. They gather monthly for dinner with a guest speaker and fellowship. EMF holds a major fund-raising event, the Fish Fry and Auction, on the first Sunday in June each year, an event the whole parish anticipates.

Looking for a way to get to know other members of the Fig Family, consider this option. Groups of 8-10 people (couples & singles) are randomly formed.  Each member hosts one meal of their choice for the group. Groups shuffle and reform every 6 months.

Open Door’s mission is to seek and serve Christ in all persons by embracing the LGBT+ community, their families, and their friends through opportunities for spiritual growth, fellowship, and service. There are monthly meetings and social gatherings.

The group meets monthly to explore fine works of fiction, either a novel read preceding the meeting or a film they screen together. Discussions consider questions such as the moral qualities of the characters, the presence and leading of God in the work, the author’s exploration of good and evil, of justice and injustice.

The 2nd Half is for those who are in, or are approaching, the second half of life. No exact dates or ages define this time – we define it for ourselves. We affirm that now is our time and we have a lot of living to do, a lot of ways we can serve, a lot of growing that God is calling us to do. Join us for fellowship and support. Meets weekly via Zoom.

Our purpose is to nurture and strengthen the parish community by bringing people together for fellowship. We hold monthly potluck dinners at the church.

Oversees the Clothes Horse resale shop and the Kay Andrew’s Bookstore. Both stores are run completely by volunteers and new helpers are always welcome.

Meets monthly to discuss books chosen by the members. The group reads a wide selection of books and is open to all women, regardless of whether you attend church at Transfiguration. Most months, we meet in the Parlor at 7:00pm on a Thursday.

This is a fellowship for adults in their 20s and 30s. Our mission is to help our members grow into seeking and serving Christ in all person through opportunities for fellowship and community.

Become a part of one of Transfiguration’s four teams who prepare and serve meals to homeless persons served by the Center. We serve one evening meal each month and a special meal on Thanksgiving Eve. This can be a transformative experience and we would love you to join us.

This is the Church’s resale clothing shop and we need helping hands to staff and maintain it. Duties include intake and merchandising of donations and assisting those who come to shop. This is chance to be of service to others in a quiet and gentle way.

The Episcopal Peace Fellowship of North Texas meets once a month to pray, study, educate and act on behalf of peace and justice around the world. The Peace Post is a part of their work writing to elected officials. This is a great way to grow into your baptismal promises by quietly working for justice and peace on the Earth.

We serve 29 food-insecure families in North Dallas on the third Monday of each month. Volunteers join together to transport, unload, sort, and package food for our group of families. The monthly activity ends with families picking up their food. Come and enjoy the giving and the fellowship.

An inter-denominational food bank providing the needy temporary help with food, some cash, and ESL classes. Transfiguration collects food throughout the year and a number of parishioners volunteer monthly. There are numerous opportunities to help.

If you are looking for a way to cultivate your prayer life this is a great start. Centering prayer has been described as a gentle willingness to let God act within you by turning off your mind and opening your heart. The group welcomes you to meet with them once a week to practice centering prayer.

Registered nurses and health workers, provide health screenings the first weekend of every month. Before the Saturday 5:30pm service, they screen for blood pressure at 5:00pm. Sundays, from 8:30am – 11:00am, they perform both glucose and blood pressure tests.

Members of the prayer chain pray daily for concerns of the parish and our friends. We are always looking for those who are willing to join us in a commitment to pray for the needs and concerns of others daily.

A creative outreach ministry for women and men who are interested in knitting or crocheting shawls to be given to parishioners, family, and friends who need an “extra” bit of God’s love, care, and compassion because of illness, a hospital stay, or death. Members meet once a month to create and prepare shawls, which are then prayed over and taken to those in need.

Our ministers provide care regularly to assigned care receivers who are experiencing a crisis or difficult life transition. Volunteers receive 50 hours of initial training and are commissioned at a Sunday service. This is an important element of our parish’s pastoral care.

One of 2 children’s choirs, this choir is a preparatory choir which rehearses at the Children’s Chapel time during the 9:00am Sunday service. Children in 1st through 3rd grades are invited to leave with the Children’s Chapel procession each week and receive music formation. Will perform at selected services throughout the year.

One of 2 children’s choirs and is composed of students in the 4th through 7th grades.  Rehearsals are Sunday mornings from 11:10am to noon in the Music Room of the Church Life Center South. This choir sings approximately once a month, normally at the 9:00am service and at selected other services throughout the year.

Adults of all ages provide music for the two principal Sunday services, as well as for Holy Day liturgies. This choir is a regular participant on our Transfigured Nights Series, singing Choral Evensongs and other special services and concerts during the course of the year. Rehearsals are Wednesday evenings from 7:15pm to 9:15pm in the Performance Hall. An informal audition is required.

This choir is for teens in grades 8 through 12 who enjoy singing and leading in worship. The choir rehearses Sunday mornings from 11:10am to noon in the Performance Hall. They normally sing once a month, usually at the 9:00am service and on other occasions. We also welcome youth instrumentalists.

Our handbell choir is open to both adults and youth who read music and enjoy being part of a musical ensemble. Rehearsals are on Tuesday evenings from 7:00pm to 8:30pm in the Music Room. The group plays approximately once a month during the school year. We love to train new ringers!

Please tell us if you have experience playing musical instruments, such as strings, brass, woodwinds, percussion, piano, harpsichord, and organ. We have three instrumental ensembles (Strings, Brass, and Woodwinds) which will rehearse and play for services from time to time.

Work with our experienced staff to introduce children to Christ through prayer, story, play, and service. Help instill in them a thirst for the joy one can find in the Christian community. Opportunities include Sunday classes such as Godly Play and Children’s Chapel.

The mission of the Figs with Kids ministry is to help form a community of parents of children living at home as we model seeking and serving Christ for our kids in today’s information age through, worship, education, evangelism, outreach, pastoral care and fellowship.

Volunteers assist with vacation bible school for our children for a week during the summer.

Christian books and gifts can be found right here at the Church. Operated by volunteers on Sunday mornings and Tuesday through Friday, this is not only a great place to shop but a wonderful place to offer your talents.

Our Library contains over 2,600 books for both adults and children. The focus is on spiritually enriching books that explore the meaning of scripture, tradition, reason and faith, in our lives as Episcopalians and, more broadly, as Christians and citizens of the world.

Volunteers work a few hours usually one day per week at the church’s front desk. They greet and direct visitors, answer the phone, and perform light clerical duties.
