12:00noon | Veneration of the Cross
The Triduum continues on Friday, when we remember the ultimate saving sacrifice of Christ. He stretched his arms wide upon the hard wood of the cross, taking upon himself the sin and suffering of the world. The power of evil and death was broken forever by the power of love supreme. The liturgy of Good Friday features the sung Passion of St. John, and also includes gorgeous music, ancient prayers, and veneration of the cross. At the Noon service, the Sacrament venerated through the previous night is consumed in quiet reverence. A poignant and interactive afternoon liturgy appropriate for children is held outdoors.
For over 100 years, the Episcopal Church has collected a special offering on Good Friday to support our witness in the Holy Land. These funds serve churches, schools, and hospitals throughout the region, including in Gaza. Help us show solidarity with the Christians who still bear faithful witness in the places where Christ lived, died, and rose again.
