Images of the Invisible God | Roper Hall

Join us this Lent for a series of classes and programs that explore the rich traditions of sacred and devotional art. Our Sunday School class for adults will look at images of Jesus throughout the centuries: as the church and society changed, so did the images of our Savior.

Wednesday Evening Lenten Program

Continuing with our exploration of Images of the Invisible God from our Sunday formation classes, during our Wednesday evening Eucharists, we are replacing the traditional homilies with brief meditations on various components of Andre Rublev’s classic icon, The Trinity. Following dinner, we have invited speakers to present on different aspects of sacred and devotional art, including Dr. Heidi Hornik, Chair of the Department of Art and Art History at Baylor University, Fr. Eric Hollas, prior of Saint John’s Abbey, the home of The Saint John’s Bible, and Kelly Lattimore, a modern iconographer whose works help us to see Jesus not only in the icon itself, but in our neighbors as well.
