St. Andrew is my favorite saint. No, not just because he caused the bagpipes I love to skirl forth on his day. It’s because, while we don’t know a great deal about St. Andrew, we know he embodied a watchful, humble presence worth imitating in our own lives.

Last Sunday Pope Francis invited every single Roman Catholic parish to welcome a refugee family—every one! With your help, I am confident that Transfiguration can do much more than one. First, I encourage you to donate to organizations that are working in the countries near Syria to serve the refugees.
