  ST. HILDA'S GUILD
THE CLOTHES HORSE AND KAY ANDREWS BOOKSTORE

The Clothes Horse St. Hilda's Guild operates the Clothes Horse resale clothing shop and the Kay Andrews Bookstore located in the Youth Center Building. Both are open Tuesday through Saturday from 10:00 to 2:00. The Bookstore Annex is open on Saturday and Sunday before and after all services in the gathering space of the main church building.

The Clothes Horse has been in business since 1961 and provides the community with a place to sell or donate gently worn clothing and offers budget-minded customers a source of reasonably priced, good quality apparel. It is run by a group of approximately 80 volunteers.

The Monday volunteers sorting donated clothes. If you wish to place clothes on consignment, the receiving committee works on Tuesday mornings from 10:00 to 12:00 There is a limit of 10 items per week, on hangers, clean, in season and in style. You may also leave clothes for consignment at other times when the shop is open and they will be consigned the following Tuesday. Consignors receive 50% of the sales price on all items sold within sixty days. Unsold clothing may be picked up by the consignor or left as a donation to the Clothes Horse.

Clothing donations are accepted at any time the shop is open and there is no limit on the number of garments. No donation ever goes to waste. Items that do not meet standards for sale in the shop are channeled to a variety of charitable organizations such as the Austin Street Shelter, Collin County Childrens' Advocacy Center, Salvation Army, Cancer Federation, Kidney Foundation and Paralyzed Veterans, among others.

The bookstore stocks a selection of hymnals, prayer books, Bibles and rosaries as well as books on prayer and meditation, theology and inspirational works. It also offers an array of spiritually oriented gift items including stained glass crosses, pewter and beaded bookmarks, angels, prayer boxes, wall hangings, jewelry and music CD's as well as a variety of greeting cards for all occasions. It's one-stop shopping for all your gift-giving needs.

Profits from the St. Hilda's Guild operations are distributed to the Episcopal Church Women's (ECW) Board to fund the women's ministries of the parish.

New volunteers are always welcome. If you are able to give just a few hours one day a month then fun, fellowship and satisfaction in supporting a worthy cause can be yours for the asking. Just call Joyce Deegan, Recruiting Chairman, at 972-231-8805.
