    PASTORAL CARE MINISTRIES

Alcoholics Anonymous
The AA group meetings are Monday and Thursday nights at 8 p.m. in the MacMaster Library.

Circle Of Friends
Parishioners ministering directly to other parishioners by providing meals to members or families who have just given birth, are sick, or are in crisis. The meal is prepared and delivered by volunteers.

Funeral Receptions
At the time of a funeral, the parish offers a reception following the service, in the tower cloister/gathering space area. Family and friends who would like to help are welcome to do so.

Lay Eucharistic Visitors to the Ill and Infirm
These laypersons take Holy Communion on Sundays to those who are hospitalized or unable to attend church due to illness or crisis. They represent the entire congregation as they are sent out with the consecrated bread and wine following the Eucharist services. Requests for shut-in communions should be given to the Pastoral Care Coordinator.

New Baby/New Mom
They make home visits to moms who have recently given birth to or adopted a baby. During the visit, parents are presented with a cradle cross and new baby information. A meal is offered to them at their convenience.

Parish Nurse Health Ministry
Registered nurses, health workers, and volunteers offer an innovative and inclusive ministry through various opportunities for health awareness. The nurses and volunteers provide health monitoring by offering blood pressures and blood glucose testing the first Sunday of every month. The ministry arranges for speakers on health issues, teaches health related topics, and arranges for support groups. The parish nurse arranges and schedules blood donations, flu shots, mobile mammography, CPR and defibrillator classes. Transfiguration is a community nursing site for senior nursing students from Baylor School of Nursing and for registered nurses obtaining their B.S.N. from Texas Womens' University. Four of our nurses have completed advanced training in parish nursing. The parish nurses serve voluntarily. A parish nurse offers to the church community the education and assessment skills of a professional nurse in a pastoral setting. The nurse is available to help plan nursing home and assisted living arrangements, home health care and other life changing services. The parish nurse is a component of the Pastoral Care Department and works closely with the Pastoral Care priest assisting with Stephen Ministry, coordinating home and hospital visits, record keeping and communication.

Prayer Chain
Members make a commitment to daily prayer for concerns of the parish and our friends.

R.O.S.E.S. (Reach Out -Serve Elderly Shut-Ins)
A nursing home visitation ministry. At least once a month, volunteers visit nursing home residents who have few visitors. Every Sunday a FIG visitor conducts a simple worship service at an Alzheimer facility. R.O.S.E.S meets every other month at 4 p.m. Sunday afternoon in the Parlor. More volunteers are welcome!

Stephen Ministers - more info
Stephen Ministers are members of the congregation who have received 50 hours of initial training, been commissioned, care regularly for an assigned care receiver who is experiencing a crisis or difficult life transition. Stephen Ministers participate faithfully in peer supervision and continuing education. Stephen Ministers meet with their care receivers about an hour a week, to listen, pray and help bear the burdens confidentially.
