St. Hilda’s Guild
The Clothes Horse and The Kay Andrews Book Store are vital ministries of Transfiguration, both operated by the St. Hilda’s Guild. Profits from the St. Hilda’s Guild operations are distributed to the Episcopal Church Women’s (ECW) Board to fund the women’s ministries of the parish. New volunteers are always welcome. If you are able to give just a few hours one day a month then fun, fellowship and satisfaction in supporting a worthy cause can be yours for the asking. Contact Joyce Deegan, Recruiting Chairman.

The Clothes Horse
The Clothes Horse is a resale shop that has been in business since 1961. It provides the community with a place to sell or donate gently worn clothing and offers budget-minded customers a source of reasonably priced, good quality apparel. It is run by a group of approximately 80 volunteers. The Clothes Horse is located down the hill by the Youth Center and is open Tuesday – Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

If you wish to place clothes on consignment, the receiving committee works on Tuesday mornings from 10:00 to 12:00 There is a limit of 10 items per week, on hangers, clean, in season and in style. You may also leave clothes for consignment at other times when the shop is open and they will be consigned the following Tuesday. Consignors receive 50% of the sales price on all items sold within sixty days. Unsold clothing may be picked up by the consignor or left as a donation to the Clothes Horse.

Clothing donations are accepted at any time the shop is open and there is no limit on the number of garments. No donation ever goes to waste. Items that do not meet standards for sale in the shop are channeled to a variety of charitable organizations such as the Austin Street Shelter, Collin County Childrens’ Advocacy Center, Salvation Army, Cancer Federation, Kidney Foundation and Paralyzed Veterans, among others.
