Rebecca GinglesWe would like to take this opportunity to welcome Rebecca Gingles, a Pennsylvania native and Texas transplant, as our new Director of Communications. She will begin this position on Monday, April 13. She comes to us from First Presbyterian Church of Dallas where she has served as Communications Coordinator for the past three years. There, she managed the website and online presence, produced a bi-weekly print newspaper, supervised publicity projects, aided with media relations, and helped to shape the long-term communications strategy for the multi-faceted congregation.

Rebecca graduated with a B.A. in English/Creative Writing from Southern Methodist University. During her time at SMU, Rebecca was a President’s Scholar, an Executive leader for the Wesley Foundation, and an intern for the SMU Press. After working as a Youth Minister for a year, she moved on to graduate studies as a Perkins-Prothro Fellow at Perkins School of Theology where she sat on the Student Journal Editorial Board and served as a research assistant for several professors. For the past seven years, Rebecca has worked in communications strategy, advertising, and print and digital publishing for The Writer’s Garret, the religious website Patheos.com, and the weekly newspaper, Texas Lawyer.

Rebecca and her family are members of St. Augustine’s Episcopal Church in Oak Cliff. She is married to, Dallas Gingles, a Ph.D. candidate in Religious Ethics at SMU, and the couple lives in the Lakewood area. They have a red-headed, mischievous 16 month-old named Graham. In her free time, Rebecca enjoys freelance editing, reading novels, trying new recipes, and traveling.
